Egypt bans detention of journalists

Good news from Egypt for a monday morning: Historically, media laws have been used by the military, politicians, judges and businessmen to put journalists in jail for no solid reasons. Yesterday, new president Morsi banned this practice and forced the judges to free a journo, further distancing himself from the old regime.

Buenas noticias de Egipto para un lunes por la mañana: Históricamente, las leyes de medios han sido usadas por ejército, políticos, jueces y empresarios para encarcelar periodistas sin razones sólidas. Ayer, el nuevo presidente Morsi prohibió esta práctica y forzó a los jueces a liberar a un periodista, distanciándose más del viejo régimen.
