An aggrieved Palestinian: “It’s easy to destroy life but very difficult to build it.”

Just over two years ago, when the Israeli army was bombing Gaza, we saw and heard this dramatic video: a Palestinian doctor called the Israeli Tv from his home, where two shells had just fallen and killed three of his daughters and a niece, and gravely injured a daughter and another niece. I can’t keep my eyes dry when I play it.

Now he’s published a book. I wouldn’t be surprised if it was a book full of hatred against Jewish people, calling for vengeance and the destruction of the State of Israel.

I’m really happy to share with everyone that it’s exactly the opposite. It’s title is “I shall not hate”, and it pursues reconciliation.

He says: “As Palestinians and Israelis we have failed to change course. We just continue with the same approach which aggravates, escalates and widens the gap of hatred and bloodshed. It’s easy to destroy life but very difficult to build it.”
