Mohammed Tariq goes to the mosque

Did I mention that my Turkish and Kurdish friends from Sanliurfa gave a me a Muslim name? (My third one, after the original and the Chinese ones.)

So today I took my Mohammed Tariq personality and found some room among the faithful to attend Friday noon prayers at Damascus’ Umayyad mosque, the holiest in the Islamic world apart from those in Mecca and Medina (where the kafirs –infidels– are not allowed to come). It’s one of the most beautiful I’ve seen and, definitely, the one where I feel most welcome and relaxed.
