Tear-gas on Istiklal Cadessi

These are impressive pictures of the water cannons police used today against protesters in Istambul. And yesterday, there were big tear-gas clouds on Istiklal Caddesi (roughly Istanbul’s equivalent to Barcelona’s Ramblas). Because of the five-storey buildings that line-up the pedestrian street, the gas stayed ther for hours and shop dependents and customers had a bad time. Still this teer-gas is not as bad as the Iranian one, that provokes you violent vomit-like spasms.

It’s the last day of demonstrations against the IMF and World Bank joint meeting.
